9-30

September 30th Dells Raceway Park held the Small Car Nationals. We made the trip out there for the fun event, as we were able to grab our first win of the year in our heat race. We were also able finish the feature 5th as we were able to make it on fuel after many trucks had to make pit stops to fill up on gas.

8-30 August 30th was the season finale at WIR. We were suffering from a tight truck in qualifying and the heat race. We qualified 14th and finished 6th in the first heat. After the heat race, we made many changes that paid off for the feature as we were having the best run of the season. Jason started 13th, advanced to the 7th spot and was still moving up. That was when we had a spark plug malfunction, causing the motor to miss and sending Jason to the back to finish in 13th. As the closing race, the Wisconsin Sport Trucks had their annual Powder Puff Race. Plutz Racing invited their dedicated fan, Marie McCarthy to be our #96 driver. Marie was able to finish fourth in her debut race. Way to go, Marie!
8-16 August 16th we qualified 20th after experimenting with a new setup. This obviously was not working as expected, so we went back to the setup we had the previous week. We were able to finish 2nd in the heat race and eighth after starting 15th in the feature.
8-9 August 9, at WIR was looking good in practice as we were running the fastest times we ran all year. However, our luck would not come through. While Jason was on his warm up lap for qualifying there was a loud pop and the truck began to slow down. After Jason was able to coast his way around the track we were able to see our problem. The jackshaft had snapped. After a trip back to the shop for more parts and some quick work from the team we were able to get it put back together on time for the heat race. Since we were unable to qualify we had to start near the back of the first heat. Jason was able to the bring #96 up to the 4th position for the finish. In the feature we also had to start in the back and was caught up behind slow traffic for the first ten laps, after Jason was able to get around them our lap times dropped a half second and we were gaining on the trucks ahead of us. There were just not enough laps left in the race but we still finished 11th.
8-2 On August 2, we were back at WIR for the Thursday Night Thunder Racing events. We started the night off by qualifying 18th with a 17.428 sec lap. We were suffering with a bad bounce that night. With some changes for the heat race, we started third. With a tight battle for second place Jason was three wide in the corner, when the truck below him washed up the track into him creating a hole for the guy behind the pack. That truck in the process of passing also washed up the track, causing him to spin and flip. As he flipped, he spun in front of Jason and his tire drove right into our hood creating major cosmetic damage. After all the commotion, we finished fourth. The feature however was not as action packed, but after just missing the inversion, we had to start back in 15th causing Jason to be stuck behind traffic but he was still able to advance to 11th place before the checkered flag fell.
7-27 After a night off on July 26 due to rain the team was ready to go racing at Golden Sands Speedway on Friday July 27. For qualifying we had the truck handling the best it was all day but Jason dove the truck a little too far down in to the corner and hit the rumble strips causing him to spin out. With a poor qualifying time, we started in the front of the heat race and managed to finish fifth. Still struggling with a tight truck Jason was able to bring it home in one piece with a ninth place finish in the feature.
